The National Association of Colleges and Employers joined with nearly 100 organizations to urge Congress to support and prioritize the mental and behavioral health needs of students of higher education through meaningful legislation.
Noting that mental health concerns have grown substantially over the past few decades, the letter points out that the pandemic exacerbated an already serious situation, with four in 10 students reporting that they experienced anxiety or depression at the height of the pandemic. The letter also calls attention to the fact that, despite the significant mental health needs of college students, there is little federal support to address these needs.
