The 2024 NACE Student Survey provides a dynamic way for the NACE community to glean meaningful trends and insights from NACE research findings that can help both recruiters and career services professionals plan their strategies for the current and upcoming recruiting cycles.

Participate in this webinar to hear directly from students about their attitudes, preferences, and outcomes related to their experiential learning and career readiness, their job search, and their employment preferences. With a panel of graduating seniors, NACE's Shawn VanDerziel and Josh Kahn will examine and discuss the latest findings based on responses from nearly 21,000 students nationwide.

Together, we will drill into survey results with an interactive dashboard to review compelling data that can inform your strategic decision-making about student and candidate engagement, including attendance at recruiting events, use of the career center, and how students think about their career readiness.

Shawn VanDerziel, President & Chief Executive Officer, NACE
As president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Shawn VanDerziel leads the association of 18,000 college career services professionals, university relations and recruiting professionals, and business solution providers that serve the community. As a leading voice on the employment of the college educated and advocate for equitable outcomes for all students, VanDerziel is featured regularly as an industry expert and is a sought-after speaker on a range of topics, including internships, hiring, career readiness, and trends in the workforce and college job market. Prior to joining the NACE staff, VanDerziel was with the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago for 23 years, where he most recently served as chief human resources officer and as chief of staff. His earlier roles included corporate recruiting with Norrell Corporation and a position in higher education as associate director of student enrollment at National Louis University.

Joshua Kahn, Associate Director of Research and Public Policy, NACE
Josh Kahn, Ph.D., is the associate director of research and public policy at the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). He earned his doctorate in educational leadership with an emphasis on quantitative research methods from the University of Oregon in 2018. His interests include using a wide-range of measurement and assessment techniques, strengthening systems and routines to enhance outcomes, and weaving together multiple sources of data to make informed decisions. At NACE, Dr. Kahn helps run the research department by developing and administering surveys, analyzing data, and disseminating results to the membership and the press. Prior to earning his Ph.D., Dr. Kahn was a special education teacher in Eugene, Oregon, and the Bronx, New York.

Ava Turner, Computer Information Sytems, University of South Carolina - Columbia
Ava Turner is a senior at the University of South Carolina, majoring in computer information systems and minoring in business information management. Post graduation, she hopes hope to land a job that combines both the technical and business world and move back to her home state of New Jersey.

Joshua Szala, Mechanical Engineering, Stony Brook University - SUNY
Joshua Szala is majoring in mechanical engineering at Stony Brook University - SUNY. He is president of the Stony Brook NSBE Chapter. Szala worked at Dupont as an electrical engineering co-op, at Gilbane as a project engineering intern, and at ARS Mechanical as a technician apprentice. He is looking for a future career in MEP design.

Valerie Thomas, HR Business Management Analyst, MUFG Bank, N.A.
Valerie Thomas completed a bachelor’s in psychology and earned an M.B.A. from Stony Brook University in May 2024. She recently joined Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) full time as a business management analyst for the HR Solutions team.
