Summary
NACE’s The Disability Signature Series: Access to Good Jobs for All will unpack concepts and provide tools to help talent acquisition, partner organizations, and other attendees better understand the diversity within the disability community as it relates to equity in employment – About Us.

Session 1

NACE’s 2024 Disability Signature Series will kick off with a conversation with leaders from the National Organization on Disability and the College Autism Network. Together, they will dive into the essentials needed to understand who we are serving and the resources available to “expand access to good jobs for all.”

Session 2

In this installment of the series, join us for an inspiring conversation with Gen Z interns who are redefining the internship experience. Our panelists will share their unique perspectives on what it takes to create inclusive and fulfilling internships for students with disabilities, while also discussing strategies to keep Gen Z engaged and motivated throughout their internship journey.

Session 3

Hear from the perspective of women with lived experience as neurodivergent people, what barriers they have experienced in pursuing their careers, and what has worked in assisting them in maximizing success in their career pursuits.

Following this program, you will be able to:
- Learn how leaders and those who recruit individuals with disabilities approach this work,
- Learn from students with disabilities about the challenges and hurdles they face in navigating the job search—and how those can be overcome,
- Expand your network to include others invested in equity in employment, and
- Acquire tools to implement that support your inclusion efforts.

Kacheyta McClellan, Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, NACE
Kacheyta McClellan earned a B.S. in management and an M.B.A. in human resources from the University of Southern Indiana. Diversity and inclusion as well as career development comprise 15 plus years of his experience in higher education and associations. As a strategy architect, he has developed successful conferences, retention initiatives, assessment tools, and diversity metrics that have earned him honors such as being named one of the Evansville Business Journal’s 20 under 40 Emerging Leaders; he is also the recipient of Leadership Evansville’s Individual Leadership Award. McClellan has also succeeded in developing partnerships with employers that have turned into a variety of opportunities for students, including internships, job shadowing, job placement, and more. McClellan has served on dozens of boards and committees that are community-focused with special attention reserved for people of color. In his current role as director of diversity, inclusion, and belonging for the National Association of Colleges and Employers, McClellan focuses efforts to advance the association and profession through a DEI lens. In addition to evaluating internal practices and analyzing all aspects of the association, he works with professionals throughout the nation to identify, investigate, and promote actions that move individuals and employers to be more inclusive.

Shawn VanDerziel, President & Chief Executive Officer, NACE
As president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Shawn VanDerziel leads the association of 18,000 college career services professionals, university relations and recruiting professionals, and business solution providers that serve the community. As a leading voice on the employment of the college educated and advocate for equitable outcomes for all students, VanDerziel is featured regularly as an industry expert and is a sought-after speaker on a range of topics, including internships, hiring, career readiness, and trends in the workforce and college job market. Prior to joining the NACE staff, VanDerziel was with the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago for 23 years, where he most recently served as chief human resources officer and as chief of staff. His earlier roles included corporate recruiting with Norrell Corporation and a position in higher education as associate director of student enrollment at National Louis University.

Tim Harding, assistant vice president for career development and engagement at The University of Tampa, boasts over 30 years of experience in higher education. His dedication to career readiness and competency development is evident through his leadership in the university's institution-wide initiative, Spartan Ready®, and co-founding the annual national Competency Development Symposium. As a keynote speaker, Harding has addressed various meetings, conducting workshops, retreats, and presentations for associations and institutions. In his National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) leadership roles, Harding served as Vice President-College from 2021 to the present, Director-College on the Board of Directors from 2017 to 2020, and co-chair for the 2018 to 2020 Career Readiness Task Force. Additionally, he held key positions in other association leadership roles, including president of the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (SoACE) and Career Development Professionals of Indiana. Harding has received prestigious awards, including NACE's Mackes Leadership Award, SoACE's Southern Star Award, and the Brownlee Leadership Award from the Florida Association of Colleges and Employers. Recognized for innovation, he received the SoACE Imaginative Spirit Award and the SoACE President’s Award. Harding holds a Master of Science in education from Indiana University, a Bachelor of Arts from Anderson University, and completed the Stetson College of Law/NASPA Student Affairs Policy and Law Certificate Program in 2009.
