Advocacy Advisory Committee

Committee Description:
The Advocacy Advisory Committee takes the lead in identifying core issues for the profession; educates members regarding legislative and/or regulatory matters that may impact the profession; and advocates before governmental officials and the public for outcomes that best support the interests of NACE members and the profession. This includes issues of equity and inclusion in higher education, the workplace, and workforce development.
Goals:
The Committee will work to ensure outcomes in support of the NACE Strategic Plan with a focus on the following goals: • Champion Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Champion equitable support, representation, and opportunities for all. • Lead Dialogue: Amplify the importance of the work of NACE and the professions by leading the dialogue among colleges, employers, policy makers, and the public. • Expand and cultivate community: Grow and diversify membership and increase audience participation, sense of belonging, and engagement.
Committee Charge(s):
The Advocacy Advisory Committee takes the lead in identifying core issues for the profession; educates members regarding legislative and/or regulatory matters that may impact the profession; and advocates before governmental officials and the public for outcomes that best support the interests of NACE members and the profession. The Advocacy Advisory Committee considers issues of importance and advises on such issues to the membership. The committee ensures the association is appropriately representing the membership in legislative affairs and determines appropriate ways to communicate on behalf of and to the membership. Where needed, the committee will evaluate, and if appropriate, recommend positions and/or action on significant unanticipated issues brought by the membership.

7/1/2025 to 6/30/2026
Timeframe: • Deliverables ongoing July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026
Deliverables Expected:
• Identify and recommend action on issues of critical importance to the profession. • Facilitate member involvement in advocacy efforts. o Engage members in “pulse taking” on issues. o Recommend and develop sessions and events to encourage member discussion of issues. o Strengthen awareness of NACE advocacy impact by positioning updates in a way that matters to the general membership experience and demonstrates how advocacy will impact leadership decisions at a macro-organizational level (e.g. articles, columns, position papers, website, etc.) • Recommend and participate in a comprehensive communication path which communicates to members issues of importance and the work of the committee. o Continue offering conference sessions on advocacy.
