• Summary

  Currently, there are around 17 million members of Generation Z at work, and by the year 2030 it's estimated they will make up 30% of the total workforce. As career professionals, these are the young people you are preparing to enter the workforce, one that is still grappling with remote and hybrid work modalities, shifting economic realities, and lingering effects of burnout from COVID-19. As managers, these are the people you are charged with coaching and leading, from onboarding to achieving performance results, along with their more senior and experienced colleagues. It's a tall order for anyone. 

  Fortunately, there are tools you can use to do the work of management and career development more effectively, without burning yourself out. Mentorship strategies lead to better preparation, greater accountability, and deeper engagement for all employees. In this webinar, Allison McWilliams, Ph.D., will share how these tools are truly your career superpower.

  Allison McWilliams, Assistant VP, Wake Forest University - Office of Personal & Career Development

  Allison McWilliams, Ph.D. is assistant vice president, mentoring and alumni personal and career development, at Wake Forest University, where she leads and provides education and support for mentoring relationships across the campus community and leads career development support for alumni. She has written for and spoken to national and international audiences about effective mentoring strategies, leadership, and management. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest and holds a master’s and a doctorate from the University of Georgia. Dr. McWilliams has written two books: Year One: How Young Professionals (And Their Managers) Can Thrive in Their First Job After College (2021; with Katherine Laws), and Five For Your First Five: Own Your Career and Life After College (2020, 3rd ed.). In 2021, her team won the Imaginative Spirit Award from the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers; in 2022, her team won the Career Services Excellence Award, and in 2024 they were awarded the Excellence and Innovation Award from the Alumni Career Services Network. In addition, Dr. McWilliams was awarded the National Mentor of the Year award from the National Association of Colleges and Employers in 2022.
