Summary
Historically, higher education programs have been well-equipped to train students in the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their professional roles successfully. However, technical competencies alone are often insufficient for achieving success. Increasingly, employers are seeking candidates who excel in career readiness competencies, including communication, critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork. This presentation demonstrates how interactive video scenarios and simulations effectively teach these vital skills. Pre- and post-assessment data, as well as strategies for skills generalization, will be shared.
Following this program, you will be able to:
- Identify three advantages of using a learning plan consisting of videos and simulations to develop career readiness skills;
- Evaluate pre- and post-assessment data to determine students’ growth after completing the career readiness learning plan; and
- Explain three strategies for generalizing career readiness skills.
