In this session, we explore novel approaches and new insights that have recently arisen when preparing students for the global workforce, and ensuring the workforce is prepared for them. Along with competencies and industry-specific knowledge and skills, now many other factors are emerging as vital. Surprising new insights underscore that emotional acuity, intercultural fluency, workplace wellness, authenticity, and connection are important to the success of new grads. To maximize their success, we’re preparing the new workforce for the world through active learning, professional projects, industry partnerships, and real-world case studies, while also honoring the importance of emotional acuity, intercultural fluency, workplace wellness, authenticity, and connection. The current climate, both in higher ed and industry around the world, has recruiters, career services professionals, and faculty adjusting and reevaluating the approach to ensure the new workforce is adequately prepared for the journey, no matter where it may take them.
