• US employers and career services professionals are often confused by the immigration rules related to the hiring of international students and graduates of US universities. The new administration in Washington has also implemented a number of changes impacting international students and graduates, adding to the confusion. This session will provide useful information about the most common work visa options available to international students, including an explanation of the H1B lottery.

• Summary

  Following this program, you will be able to:

  • Assist international students understand the work visa options available to them as they explore employment opportunities in the United States;
  • Assist employers who recruit on college campuses to understand the work visas available to allow them to hire international students and graduates of U.S. universities; and
  • Develop resources and best practices in career services offices to maximize career opportunities for international students seeking to start careers in the United States after graduation.

  Mark Rhoads, Immigration Attorney, McCandlish Holton

  Mark Rhoads is a director of the Immigration Practice Group of McCandlish Holton PC. Rhoads regularly provides immigration advice and visa processing services to career services offices and U.S. employers that employ foreign graduates to work in the United States. He has extensive expertise in all temporary visa and permanent resident categories. Rhoads has spoken on immigration topics at national and regional conferences, including NACE's annual conference, as well as at many other university-related organizations. Among other honors, he is listed in "Best Lawyers in America in Immigration Law."
