Relocation Assistance Yields Better Candidates for Internships

Relocation assistance may be the secret sauce to attracting top-notch interns, according to results of NACE 2025 Internship & Co-op Survey.

Nearly 60% of employers taking part in the survey said they offer their interns relocation assistance, and nearly two-thirds of those say it is key to getting better applicants.

In addition, there is evidence that relocation assistance correlates to a higher intern-to-full-time-hire conversion rate. An earlier analysis found that more than 53% of employers offering relocation assistance reported converting their interns to full-time hires compared with 50% of those who didn’t offer assistance.

Details about relocation assistance are available in NACE’s 2025 Guide to Compensation for Interns & Co-ops. The survey on which the guide is based was conducted October 16, 2024, to January 2, 2025; a total of 247 organizations took part.
