  • Summary

    "Tell me about yourself" (TMAY) is the single-most common question job seekers (and non-job seekers alike!) face in their networking, interviewing, and relationship-building efforts. Although job seekers can use PAR/CAR/STAR approaches for behavioral interview questions, there has been no similar framework guiding job seekers to predictably and consistently answer this ubiquitous question in a likable way without having to memorize a script. In this session, The 2-Hour Job Search author Steve Dalton will introduce attendees to the FIT Model, which helps anyone answer TMAY effectively and authentically every time. Never feel uncertain about how to answer TMAY again (including at NACE)!

    Following this program, you will be able to:

    • Understand the research-based reasons why answering "Tell Me About Yourself" (TMAY) well is so critical to any professional's (especially any interviewee's) success;
    • Explain why the FIT Model is an effective method for answering TMAY in both group networking- and interview-based scenarios; and
    • Use FIT to answer TMAY (in both group networking and interview settings) in an authentic, likable, and memorable fashion with minimal effort and preparation.
