  • Summary

    Universities and employers are well-equipped to train students and new graduates in the technical skills required to perform their jobs. However, possessing these technical skills is often insufficient for success. This presentation focuses on a new platform to help students develop competency in the skills needed for academic and workplace success. Attendees will be invited to share the skills and competencies they consider to be challenging for their students and new graduates to attain. The benefits of using simulations and video scenarios to teach these skills will be discussed, and strategies to monitor performance and promote generalization will be reviewed.

    Following this program, you will be able to:

    • Describe the skills and competencies students and new graduates need to succeed in the workplace;
    • List three benefits of using interactive simulations and videos to support the development of professional skills; and
    • Explain how to monitor performance and promote generalization of skills and competencies.
  • Career Level: Basic-, intermediate-, and advanced-level career services, university relations and recruiting, and business affiliate professionals
