Value of Career Services

Employers Say Career Services Is Important to Their Recruiting Success

A campus building.

More than 90% of employers responding to NACE’s Recruiting Benchmarks Survey said career services is important to their success on campus.

They identified four overarching ways career services can contribute to that success.

  • Branding: Employers look to career services for help with branding their organization on campus.
  • Relationship-building: They want career services to help them connect with other campus departments and organization as well as with faculty and the curriculum. Many also cited career services as a partner in helping them connect informally with students.
  • Engaging through campus events: Employers expect career services to manage career events effectively—especially career fairs—and help them with their scheduling needs.
  • Providing insight: Employers need career services to offer advice on how to reach their students.

The Recruiting Benchmarks Survey was conducted April 21 through May 23, 2025. A total of 226 organizations took part, including 197 holding NACE membership (24.9% response rate). For information about the report based on survey results, see the NACE Store.
