Larry Simpson, who served as director of the career services office at the University of Virginia (UVA) for 30 years, died on February 14. Simpson was 74.
Simpson earned a B.A from Montevallo College and an M.S. from the University of Alabama, before receiving a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University.
In 1968, he was named UVA’s director of career planning and placement, where he was known for his “innovative initiatives and attentive spirit” and his “unfailing support of women, minorities, and liberal arts students.”
